INTRODUCTION
We, as humans, seem to love making messes. We all like to believe that this tendency was left behind with our adolescence, but let’s be honest… we’ve just gotten more creative. Sometimes it’s provoking a spouse. Sometimes it’s driving through the avoidable road slush or puddle. And sometimes it’s entertaining those things that we know are just plain bad for our mind, heart, or life. We serve a God who is the ultimate cleaning solution for all the nooks and crannies of our messy lives!

It is simply impossible to break the bind between being a true follower of Jesus and obeying what Jesus and Scripture teach us. A huge piece of that is baptism. But baptism is not salvation, nor is it the epitome of being a disciple. It is, however, an unavoidable step in obedience that symbolizes the most precious experience in all of existence and calls us to a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Baptism paints the most beautiful metaphor! To borrow from Scripture and arguably the most famous hymn in church history, “I once was lost but now I’m found. I was blind but now I see.” The journey from death, destruction, and putrid decay to life, hope, and purity is illustrated by and many times propelled forward by this beautiful symbolic act of obedience and celebration.
APPLICATION
PRAYER
Pray that God would help you be a better more obedient disciple of Jesus as you consistently welcome into the dead parts of your heart and life.
