INTRODUCTION
We’ve all had people speak into our lives in powerful ways, and God often uses those voices to call us toward something greater. In Joshua’s life, God Himself speaks directly to remind him that calling is always paired with courage and with God’s presence. Let’s look at this together.
UNDERSTANDING
HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ EPHESIANS 2:10.
Knowing we are called is one thing. But stepping into that calling, especially when the task seems overwhelming, requires courage. Joshua faced the challenge of following Moses, yet God reminded him: “I will be with you.”
HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ JOSHUA 1:5–6, 9.
God’s presence gives us courage, but He also equips us with His Word to strengthen and guide us. Just as Joshua was told to meditate on the Law day and night, we too are called to anchor ourselves in God’s Word daily.
HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ JOSHUA 1:7–8.
God’s Word fuels our strength, but Scripture reminds us that courage is more than knowledge. It requires action.
HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ JAMES 2:17.
Every step of faith strengthens us, but it also reminds us that all good things come from God. We don’t act courageously to boast about ourselves, but to give God glory for His faithfulness.
HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ JAMES 1:17.
APPLICATION
Courage isn’t something we muster up on our own. It comes from remembering God’s call, His presence, His Word, and His faithfulness. Let’s take time to pray that we would live this out in real and practical ways this week.
PRAYER
Pray for courage to take action this week, deeper trust in God’s presence when fear arises, and faith to remember His faithfulness and give Him credit.
