  • What was one takeaway from this week's sermon for you?
  • Were there any stories, ideas, or points that stuck out?
  • Was there anything that challenged you?

INTRODUCTION

Icebreaker:
  • If you had to choose one theme song to describe your life right now, what would it be and why?

Discussion Starters:
  • What’s the most memorable “victory moment” you’ve had in your life (big or small)?
  • When you hear the phrase “We are the champions,” what comes to mind? Sports? Music? Personal success?
  • How do you usually respond when you’re in the middle of a tough challenge — do you tend to push through, look for an escape, or lean on others?

Just like Queen’s iconic anthem, Romans 8 reminds us that in Christ, we’re more than conquerors. Life brings struggles and hardships, but God wants us to see those moments as opportunities for growth, transformation, and testimony. Let’s dig into how Paul frames both suffering and victory in Christ.

UNDERSTANDING

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ ROMANS 8:18.

  • What do you think Paul means when he says present sufferings are “not worth comparing” with future glory?
  • How do you typically keep perspective when life feels overwhelming?
  • Why is it important to remind ourselves that suffering is temporary but God’s glory is eternal?

Paul makes it clear that tough times are part of life, but they don’t define us. God equips us to endure them, and even more, He promises His Spirit helps us in our weakness.

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ ROMANS 8:26–28.

  • What encouragement do you find in the Spirit interceding for us when we don’t know how to pray?
  • How have you seen God bring good out of a hard season in your own life?
  • Why do you think it’s sometimes easier to see God’s work in hindsight rather than in the middle of trials?

Not only does God bring purpose out of our struggles, He also gives us His power. Paul calls us “more than conquerors” because we don’t just survive hardships.  We come out stronger and able to impact others.

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ ROMANS 8:37–39.

  • What does it mean to you personally that “nothing can separate us from the love of God”?
  • How would your perspective on daily life shift if you truly believed you are “more than a conqueror” in every circumstance?
  • What lies or accusations tend to make you forget this truth, and how can you combat them?

APPLICATION

  • Where do you need to be reminded this week that you are “more than a conqueror”?
  • Which of the five “no’s” (no intimidation, limitation, accusation, condemnation, separation) speaks most to your current situation?
  • How can this group encourage one another to live out the truth that “we are the champions through Christ”?

PRAYER

Thank God that His love is inseparable and His Spirit makes us conquerors. Pray that each member would hold onto these truths in their struggles, grow through challenges, and use their victories to change the world for Christ.
