  • What was one takeaway from this week's sermon for you?
  • Were there any stories, ideas, or points that stuck out?
  • Was there anything that challenged you?

INTRODUCTION

  • What is one challenge, setback, or unexpected difficulty you have faced recently?
  • When you are under pressure, do you tend to become more patient or more anxious? Why?
  • Can you think of a time when something difficult ended up producing a positive outcome in your life?

Difficult seasons often reveal what we truly believe about God. In this week's message, we looked at Abraham's greatest test of faith and discovered that God often works in ways we do not immediately understand. As we study together, consider how faith grows when we choose to trust God even when the path ahead seems unclear.

UNDERSTANDING

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ GENESIS 22:1-8

  • What stands out to you about Abraham's immediate response to God's difficult command?
  • Why do you think Abraham was able to tell Isaac that "The Lord will provide" before he saw any evidence of God's provision?
  • What does this passage teach us about trusting God when we do not understand what He is doing?

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ GENESIS 22:9-14

  • What does God's intervention reveal about His character?
  • Why do you think Abraham named that place "The Lord Will Provide"?
  • How have you personally seen God provide during a difficult season of life?

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ PROVERBS 3:5-6

  • What is the difference between trusting God and leaning on our own understanding?
  • Why is it often difficult to surrender our plans and trust God's process?
  • How can acknowledging God in all our ways change how we respond to life's challenges?

Abraham's story reminds us that faith is not the absence of questions. Faith is choosing to trust God while we still have questions. The message highlighted three practical reminders that help us pass the tests of faith: remember who you're following, remember who you're leading, and remember that the Lord will provide.

APPLICATION

  • What situation in your life currently requires you to trust God more deeply?
  • Which of the three reminders from the message do you need most right now: remembering who you're following, remembering who you're leading, or remembering that the Lord will provide?
  • How does your response to hardship influence the people who are watching your life?
  • What is one area where you need to surrender your own plan and trust God's process?
  • What practical step can you take this week to strengthen your faith during a challenge?

As followers of Jesus, we are continually learning to trust God's faithfulness. Every challenge becomes an opportunity to grow, and every season of testing can deepen our confidence that God is working even when we cannot see the full picture.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for being faithful in every season of life. Help us trust You when circumstances are confusing, difficult, or painful. Remind us that You are always at work and that You will provide exactly what we need.
