Daily Scripture  //  Beginning Sunday, May 29, 2022

Sunday:  James Chapter 1
Who wrote this book, and who is it addressed to?
How are we supposed to handle trials and temptations?
How are you challenged by verse 22?

Monday:  James Chapter 2
How are receiving mercy and not discriminating connected?
What are some ways you have seen faith in the deeds of others?
What can we learn about grace from Rahab’s story in verse 25?

Tuesday:  James Chapter 3
How important are the words we say and think?
How are envy and ambition related?
How does James describe heavenly wisdom?

Wednesday:  Psalm 136
Imagine this psalm as a call and response read out loud in the temple thousands of years ago. Pray today and consider that the same love they spoke about back then, we get to enjoy today and forever still.

Thursday:  James Chapter 4
What do you think “adulterous people” means?
How important is it to make God’s will the point of your plans?

Friday:  James Chapter 5
What does this say about wealth and how we use it?  To whom much is given, much is required.
What is it that you need to persevere through in your life? (Thorns?)
How does James say we should react to the troubles in our life?

Saturday: 1 Samuel 17
This is a pretty well-known story.  After reading it today, was there some part you didn’t know or had forgotten? Have you ever had a chance to step up when everyone else was scared?
