July 24 - 30 - Daily Scripture

[click on a scripture to read it]

Sunday:  Luke 12:22-34
  • What do you struggle to trust God for?
  • How are being “generous” and “trusting God financially” connected to one another?
  • How are you challenged by verse 34?

Monday:  Luke 10:25-37
[NOTE: It is important to know that at this point in history, Jewish people and Samaritan people did not like each other at all]
  • Based on what Jesus is saying here, who is your neighbor?
  • What are some practical ways you can show care for your neighbors the way Jesus is describing?

Tuesday:  Luke 5:1-11
  • Peter seems to think he isn’t good enough for Jesus to use him.  In what ways have you thought or acted like God can’t do anything amazing with you because you’re messed up?
  • Based on this story, what do you think Jesus needs from you to use you for great things?
  • What is something outside of your comfort zone you could do this week to share the love of God with someone?

Wednesday:  Psalm 63
  • What are some ways the writer describes God in this Psalm?
  • What are some times in your life when you cried out for God like the writer of this passage?  If you can’t think of any, what are some times you should’ve turned to God like this but didn’t?
  • Take time today and read this passage like a prayer, make it personal.

Thursday:  Luke 21:1-4
  • How would you respond to someone who says, “following Jesus is supposed to be easy”?
  • How can the ideas in this passage be applied to parts of our life other than our finances? What is a practical way you could give (time/talent/treasure) today like the widow in this story?

Friday:  Luke 8:40-56
  • How did Jesus see the girl differently than the people did?
  • What role did the girl's father play in helping her?
  • Think of someone you know that seems to be in a hopeless situation. Maybe they just need someone to believe.

Saturday:  2 Chronicles 7
  • What does this story teach us about covenants?
  • How do these same expectations God gave to Solomon look for our lives as Christians today?
  • Verse 14 is an excellent verse to keep in our heart. Take time today and memorize it.
