Sunday: Genesis 2
- Why do you think an all-powerful God would choose to rest?
- What is the most peaceful time you’ve experienced with God?
- What are some realistic steps you could take to regularly create an environment of peace and rest?
Monday: Hebrews 4:1-16
- How are “the good news” and God’s promise of rest related to one another?
- This passage states that the word of God judges thoughts and attitudes of the heart. How can you rest from more than just work, but also from thoughts and attitudes of the heart?
- Jesus was tempted in every way. What does it mean to you that He was tempted to neglect rest as well?
Tuesday: Matthew 11:25-30
- What is the difference between the type of rest Jesus would give you versus the type of rest you would give yourself?
- What do you think it means that Jesus says to “take my yoke upon you”?
- What kind of conversation can you have with God today to better pursue “rest for your soul”?
Wednesday: Psalm 23
- Take a moment and visualize yourself experiencing what the writer is describing in this Psalm. Spend some time in prayer.
- What specific “right paths” has God been trying to guide you in lately? Talk to Him about those things.
- What do you feel is lacking in your life right now or what “dark valley” do you feel you may be in? Talk to God about those things.
Thursday: John 16:19-33
- How have you experienced Jesus turning your grief into joy? If you are currently in a time of grief, spend some time talking to God about that.
- What would it take for you to experience complete joy from God?
- What issues are you facing now that Jesus would tell you, “take heart, I have overcome the world”?
Friday: Acts 17:1-4
- Paul was away from his home and yet still went to Synagogue. What does this teach us about going to church?
- What does your sabbath day look like and does it currently honor God? If not, what changes can be made?
- Paul was consistently working toward helping the community of believers in and out of the Synagogue. In what ways are you serving the community of believers? Is there a God job you need to sign up for?
Saturday: Proverbs 21:1-8
- Think of a time you thought your way was better than God’s? How did you discover it wasn’t?
- Living in a culture that tells us to define our own truths, how do we know what is truly right and just?
- In verse 8, which statement best describes your life right now, ‘guilty and devious’ or ‘innocent and upright’? Why do you say that?
