INTRODUCTION
  • Share your opinion on most awkward moment from a movie or TV show you’ve watched.
  • What is the most awkward and uncomfortable situation you’ve ever personally been in?

One of the driving points from Pastor Mike’s message this week was “Sometimes you have to go where you don’t want to go to get to where God wants to take you!”  This process can be difficult, awkward and even painful at times.  If we’re not willing to walk through the discomfort, sometimes we simply won’t get where God wants to take us.

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ HEBREWS 11:1-13
  • What is the most difficult thing you believe God challenged you to do?
  • Why is trusting God and taking a “leap of faith” so difficult sometimes?
  • If you were included in a list like this someday, what do you hope people would say you did because of your faith in Jesus?

Faith can be a very difficult thing to walk in daily.  Our human nature calls us to rely on only what we can see and touch.  God can do more than we can ask, think or imagine… so why would limit Himself to only that which our minds can grasp.  We are called to rely on Him for what we do not see or even imagine can be done, because that is exactly what He wants and has in store for us.

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ MATTHEW 7:7-12
  • What is a time when you really needed God to do something big in your life and He did?
  • How do you see people limit what God can do in their lives by assuming He treats us the way we treat each other?  Give examples.
  • What is something you need God to do in your life right now?

Asking God for what we feel we need can be a complicated thing.  Many times we don’t ask because we aren’t sure if He will give it to us.  Just as a child goes to their parent and boldly expresses their needs and desires, we are to approach God.  But that must also be combined with the trust that a child has for their loving parent.  We may not like or understand an answer of “No” but we can always trust that God will lavish His blessings on us as a loving parent would on their child.

APPLICATION
  • What in your life do you feel you still need healing from? (physical, emotional, etc.)  Talk to God about it.
  • What is a specific leap of faith you could take this week?

PRAYER
Pray that God would increase your faith and show you new and exciting things He wants for your present and future.
