INTRODUCTION
  • What is the most difficult lesson you’ve learned in your life?
  • What is something you taught someone that was difficult for them to learn?

To live is to learn.  We learn what to do and what not to do as the days go by.  However, teaching life lessons usually requires a greater level of intentionality.  God calls us to pay attention to the lessons life teaches us and to intentionally pass along truth and wisdom.

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ  Matthew 28:16-20
  • What is a disciple of Jesus and what does that look like in today’s world?
  • How are you currently succeeding at becoming a disciple of Jesus?  In what area can you improve?

A disciple by definition requires discipline.  Discipline never comes without planning, hard work, and consistency.  To be a true disciple of Jesus means to employ these tactics from a Scriptural standpoint in our spiritual life and our physical life each and every day.

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ  1 Timothy 4:11-14
  • Who in your life has set the best example for you of what it looks like to be a believer?
  • Why is it so easy, and yet so dangerous, for the Church to look down on young people rather than empowering them to serve and lead within the church?

Young people are paying attention!  They are watching how we live.  They are hearing what and how we speak.  They are wondering how their lives will be like or unlike ours as they age.  May we not only live a life worth replicating, but intentionally teach them the who, what, when, how, and why of life from a biblical perspective.  Then, may we go the extra mile of actually trusting them to carry weight, serve, and lead within the Church.

APPLICATION
  • What is one new thing you can try doing to equip and pour into the next generation of the Church?
  • What is one young person in your sphere of influence who you see great potential for future leadership?  Tell them what you see in them this week!

PRAYER
Pray that God will teach you how to be a better disciple this week and bring young people into your life who you can pass on what you’re learning.
