INTRODUCTION
Rest is important! It’s even one of the “Big 10” commandments given to us through Moses. Rest is so important to God that he modeled it for us by resting on the seventh day of creation. He didn’t need to rest but wanted us to see the importance. God loves us enough to tell us to take a regular “chill pill” - to withdraw from the stress of normal life and turn to his peace and rest.

HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ Hebrews 4:1-7
Jesus constantly butted heads with religious leaders over the Sabbath and how it should be practiced. The most tragic thing about rigidly & religiously applying Scripture to our lives instead of pursuing a deep relationship with God and inviting him to write his Word on our hearts, is we devoutly & regularly miss the point! God has always had the most beautiful intention behind his gift of the Sabbath.
HAVE A VOLUNTEER READ Hebrews 4:8-14
Intimacy is the key. All that God commands us in Scripture is designed to increase our intimacy with him, keep us from danger, or both. Sabbath rest is exactly that. Seek God with all you got. Withdraw from normal stress regularly. Enjoy his rest, which can be found only in an in-depth interaction with the God who loves you so much and commands you to rest.
APPLICATION
PRAYER
Pray that God would walk with you toward his Sabbath rest this week.
